Can anyone solve my External Hard Drive problem?

Hello, I have a 1TB External Hard Drive. It used to work fine, but now when I plug the USB into my PC, the PC makes the sound that says it's plugged in, and the green light starts flashing on the Hard Drive telling me it's connected and working on something, and then the green light just stays consistently on. I do happy if the data cannot be recovered, I also want my working external HDD back! Please help! By the way, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. Thank you!

Maybe Your External Hard Drive is broked... ways of finding out is
1. you can try control Panel / system / devise manager ... right click hard drives and select system changes.
2. take it apart and plug the External Hard Drive in manually.
3. test it on another computer
