"Trying to Recover Data from Failing WD Green 2TB HDD Slave", has a failing 2TB green WD drive, that when connected, slows down the computer (computer runs fine when it is disconnected), and this drive has some programs installed on it and mainly videos/movies. This drive does not contain the OS, it is simply being used as a slave (as I believe it is termed). I just wanted to recover the video files (and possibly all the names of the folders to understand what programs need to be reinstalled). Right now I removed the drive from my boyfriend's computer and connected both the failling drive and a new WD 4TB blue HDD to my computer to try and recover the video files and folder structure (don't care if the programs don't work). This drive does not let me access it, but it appears on my computer as a "Local Disk" . I have tried using TestDisk to restore the MFT (I performed a chkdsk /f /r prior to this and found out the MFT was damaged/corrupt), but it said both MFT and its mirror are bad. I also tried to analyze the partition, but it simply gets to a point where it says the partitions are not recoverable, not giving me any option to repair or anything, only to quit. I am attempting to image/clone the drive onto another HDD (WD blue 4TB drive), but Acronis True Image continually fails/stops half-way, and I was about to get the WD version of it, but I am skeptical. In Disk Management the drive appears as healthy (according to it), and it shows up as a primary partition (no x's or anything, but the reality with working with it is obviously a different story). I have no problems booting my system up or anything, I just want to backup what I can from the failling drive onto the new drive and possibly do data recovery if necessary on the new drive.
