"WD Elements HD Problem: IO Device Error", I have a WD Element 1TB external hard-drive. Purchased more than a year now. My computer runs Windows 7 (32 bits). When connected, the hard drive emits the usual start sound but then a clicking sound starts. The drive is recognized and detected by the computer but it suddenly stopped showing up in My Computer. First time I had this problem was when I was transferring some pictures from my computer to the drive. I accidentally unplugged my hard drive and the transferring of files was disrupted. When I plugged the drive again, the problem starts to show up. The hard drive suddenly became slower and is always having a hard time showing all my files and folder. Until one day, when I plugged the drive, it started to emit clicking sounds. The clicking sound continues every time I plug the hard drive and Autoplay does not appear. The computer can detect the hard drive but read as Local Disk G: with no report on the disk size. I am unable to use it and when double-clicked would give me "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". The drive does appear under Disk Management and at the right bottom corner of my desktop which is Eject Hard Drive.
